For Hinged and Sliding Doors

ABB's GKey is a robust safety lock with a die cast housing for hinged and sliding doors. The GKey offers an interlocking function reaching PL e/SIL 3 with high level coding. Power is needed to unlock which makes it a safety lock.

GKey is fitted with a rear escape release button and manual unlocking (auxiliary release). It also offers four positions for installation of 22mm pilot devices (ex. ABB Compact Series).

Description

The Gkey interlocks safety switch is designed to provide position interlock detection for moving guards. It is designed to fit the leading edge of sliding, hinged or lift off machine guards.

The actuator is fitted to the moving part (frame) of the guard and is aligned to the switch entry aperture. The interlocking switches have rotary heads which provides ease of mounting and offer different actuator entry positions. Some of the switches can be locked in the protective position which prevents unwanted access to machinery until dangerous operations have ceased.

The Gkey switch is available in several different versions to meet different needs. All switches are robust and can withstand severe environments. Depending on the environment where the switch will be used, different material can be chosen. Basic versions are encased in robust plastic housing. For extra durability, stainless steel versions are available which makes the switches useful to operate in very harsh environments e.g. food processing and chemical industry.

Application

Used for keeping a door safely locked for machines with long stopping times (inertia) or prevent disturbances of the production process. Not only is it as safety lock but also interlocks (monitors) moveable guards (ex. doors and hatches).

Features and Benefits

Easy to Install

Integrated buttons: There are four positions in the key housing that can be used for integrated push buttons, switches or pilot lights.

  • Combine locking and control all in a single housing and cable

  • Modular design allows the user to order just what they need

  • ABB Compact Series push button can be used

  • M20 conduit entry

Safety and Protection

Escape release: The door can always be opened from inside the danger zone using the escape release button.

  • Escape release button and manual unlocking included

  • Safe locking and interlocking function reaching PLe/SIL3

  • Can be padlocked to prevent closing the lock while performing work in the hazard area.

  • Power to unlock keeps doors locked even as a result of e.g. power loss which makes GKEY a safety lock

  • Hold guards closed with up to 3000N (674lbf) of force.

  • LED indication as well as built-in RFID actuator for high-level coding of the key

Reliable in Extreme Conditions

  • Made of die cast aluminum alloy with a robust construction

  • Ideal for use in mechanically demanding environments e.g. Sliding handle GKEY accessory minimizes moving parts
